Taxi

Please note taxis will not accept credit card payments; there is also a $1.20 charge on all fares originating at the airport. The maximum number of passengers allowed in any taxi is 5 including infants and children. The average fare from McCarran to the Venetian is $11-$14 per ride. Instruct the driver to go via Paradise and Tropicana rather than the freeway. This will reduce the length of the journey.

Getting Around Las Vegas

Las Vegas Monorail

The Las Vegas Monorail. The Robert N. Broadbent Las Vegas Monorail runs from 7am to 2am daily. You can glide above traffic at speeds reaching 50mph to cover the four mile route if you choose in approximately 14 minutes. The monorail stops at several hotels on the south-side of the strip. While the Venetian does not have a station, the monorail stops next door at the Harrah’s Hotel, so enjoy easy access to a large section of the strip without having to walk. Tickets are $3.00 one-way. Day and multiple-day passes are also available. For more information go to www.lvmonorail.com

Limousine Service: Companies specific to McCarran airport have already been listed above, and there are numerous other companies available. Some general information to keep in mind if planning on utilizing a limo service: prices range between $35/hr up to $100/hr and vary from a basic limo to the super-stretch in size and amenities.

Taxi Service: Companies specific to McCarran are listed above. Please keep in mind that the approximately 16 companies operating in the Las Vegas valley are governed by the Nevada Taxicab Authority and fares will be essentially the same. Taxi meters will accumulate charges at “waiting time” ($22.00/hr) if the taxi is not moving or going less than 8-12 mph. Above that, the rate is $1.80 per mile which is divided into 1/9th mile segments of $.20 each.

Car Rental: If you plan on visiting any of the areas of interest surrounding Las Vegas (eg. Hoover Dam, Red Rock, Mount Charleston) or even plan on several trips to areas outside the monorail service or walking distance, a rental car is your best option.
