Call for Participation

We invite all MIS junior faculty to participate in the MIS Camp (Junior Faculty Consortium), being held in conjunction with the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). The consortium will meet on Sunday, December 11th 2005. The ICIS conference runs from December 11th - 14th, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The MIS Camp consists of panel, discussion, role-playing, and other interactive sessions built around issues related to becoming a successful member of the professoriate. Each activity will be facilitated by a select group of highly successful MIS faculty from major universities. This will allow each camper to interact with a wide variety of both new and senior faculty and to share their experiences, thoughts, and concerns about starting a career in the academy.

Eligible campers include all AIS members beginning their second, third, or fourth year in an academic position in the Fall of 2005. MIS Camp has a history of success and has been lauded year after year by its attendees as a valuable and worthwhile activity. Due to space limitations, if you have attended junior faculty consortium recently, you should not register again to allow for new colleagues to enjoy the experience.

Registration

All campers must be registered for the ICIS conference. You will be able to indicate your desire to attend on the conference registration form. The fee for this year’s Junior Faculty Consortium is $50.00 per camper. This fee can be paid with your conference registration. In addition to ICIS registration, we ask that you complete and return the consortium registration form available by clicking here. The completed registration form along with a copy of your current vita should be e-mailed to ICIS_2005_MIS_Camp@walton.uark.edu no later than November 1, 2005. Those campers who can be accommodated will be notified no later than November 15, 2005.

To maintain the intimacy and richness necessary for this type of experience, registration is limited to 50 campers. Finally, to ensure continuity amongst the groups, we ask that you plan to attend the entire day from beginning to end. The camp will begin at 7:30 am on Sunday morning and conclude by 5:00 pm with plenty of time to get freshened up for the opening reception. Plan to arrive in Las Vegas in enough time to begin bright and early Sunday morning.
